A set of activities to build the capacity of youth
Implementation of tolerance, peace-building, and good-neighborly relations in the systems of informal and extracurricular school education in three countries.
A group of local experts is developing a manual called “Class Hours on Good Neighborliness and Peace-Building” for extracurricular activities, which can be used by school teachers for conducting classes as part of their extracurricular events.
The manual will contribute to the development of practical skills for students to build positive relationships with young representatives of different ethnic groups, prevent discrimination based on ethnicity, and develop intolerance towards crimes committed due to ethnic discrimination.
The manual will be translated into three national languages and, after approval by the relevant education authorities in each country, will be published.
The manual will be distributed through the school administration system of the three target countries.
To present and implement the manual “Class Hours on Good Neighborliness and Peace-Building” for conducting extracurricular activities in secondary school systems in three countries, three one-day conferences will be held (one conference in each country).
Each conference will be attended by up to 50 people, including representatives from regional education departments, institutions for retraining personnel, pedagogical universities, and secondary schools.
It is planned that after training at the workshops, teachers will independently conduct peace-building lessons in schools in their region and share their experience with other teachers, thereby stimulating the development of interethnic dialogue platforms and increasing the potential of the educational sphere in the Fergana Valley, creating a positive communication environment in communities of border regions and developing skills for active participation in society, which will help avoid tendencies towards radicalization and extremism.
A specially designed interactive online course will support sustainable additional training for middle school teachers on using the Handbook “Class Hours on Good Neighborliness and Peacebuilding” and conducting advisory hours and other extracurricular activities in the field of:
- Peacebuilding
- Tolerance
- Non-discriminatory behavior
- Anti-radicalization
- Gender sensitivity, etc.
The online course will contain informational materials, such as presentations, videos, etc., in the national languages of the three countries.
It is expected that the online modules will also motivate school administrations to organize and implement discussion platforms in schools and other educational organizations.
To motivate teachers from border regions to use the proposed methodology and developed project materials “Class hours on good neighborliness and nation-building”, a special competition of ideas for extracurricular activities on the topics and practices of nation-building and good neighborliness will be organized among school teachers.
Teachers will have the opportunity to present their ideas for extracurricular activities and receive a micro-grant from the project to conduct their activities in their communities.
15 winners of the competition (5 in each country) will be invited to a 1-day master class in Osh city, where they can present their ideas for extracurricular activities and exchange experiences with colleagues from different countries.
They will be awarded micro-grants during the master class.
In total, it is planned to provide 15 micro-grants (5 in each country), each micro-grant in the amount of 200 euros.
After conducting extracurricular activities, sub-grantees will share their results and lessons learned, and this experience will be disseminated among the participants.
📢 Great news! On July 18-19, the FORUM "Bridges of Friendship in the Fergana Valley" will be held in Fergana. 🌍🤝
The project will present the results of its work to key stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society representatives and the media. Youth achievements will be showcased and future steps planned for their sustainability. 📈💪
