"Youth to youth" means that this training aims to prepare young people (students, activists, volunteers, etc.) to become trainers or leaders for their peers and implement projects or programs in youth development. In this way, young people are trained through the project's workshops to teach other young people.
From August 23-26, 2022, training sessions were held in Almaty, Kazakhstan to teach students and youth from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan the technologies for promoting multicultural and interregional dialogue in the border regions of the Fergana Valley.
Over the course of 4 days, international experts from the project shared advanced knowledge with participants, aimed at introducing educational technologies, creating open and peaceful dialogue platforms for constructive discussions on current issues, developing flexible skills among young people, such as critical thinking, and conducting effective communication to improve their active life position and conscious attitude towards preventing risks and threats of radicalization among youth, as well as forming knowledge for independent learning of the basics of peacemaking and interreligious dialogue in their regions.
On the second day of the training, participants were introduced to the fundamental training methods, and organization of group work, and discussed guidelines for planning the training.
At the end of the day, participants had a cultural exchange and learned about each other’s traditions and national characteristics. “Cultural exchange is the basis for building multicultural and interreligious dialogue, we need to talk more about what unites our friendly peoples,” said Askar, a training participant.
After the training, young trainers will conduct training sessions for the youth in their region independently and pass on their experience using the “youth to youth” model, thereby stimulating the development of interethnic dialogue platforms and increasing the potential of the youth of the Fergana Valley.
